October and November’s autumn running events have continued to keep runners from Terrington St Clement Running Club covering the miles, even as the temperature turns colder.Four runners from the club attended the Fen Ten 10-miler at West Walton at the end of October. Some of the runners were first-timers at the event and PB’s were achieved by Kirsty Slater with 1:41:52, John Greenwood 1:47:42 and Hollie Little in 1:58:57.The other finisher was Adrian Pepper in 1:47:43.The weather provided blue skies and warm sunshine, which might be considered unusual for a late October run.Finishers were presented with Fen Ten beanie hats, which are likely to be needed more on colder runs later in the year than were needed on the day.Dylan Whitehouse was first in the under-17 boys at the second Ryston Runners Cross Country Grand Prix with a time of 16:15. Joanna Banaszek (45:52) gained an age-group medal. Other finishers were: Jake Whitehouse 36:15, Mark Garrett 39:41, Claire Whitehouse 51:08, and Hollie Little 61:39.On Remembrance Sunday, the club had a good turnout at the George Munday 10k held at Leverington. Before the run, the hosts held a short service of remembrance followed by a two-minute silence. The flat course and mild, cool weather allowed some fast times.Finishers were: Dylan Whitehouse 36:56, Jake Whitehouse 41:33, Kirsty Slater 58:47, Claire Whitehouse 58:48, Hollie Little 1:04:04, Alan Bartrum 1:04:04, Linda Pepper 1:05:21, and Helen Walpole 1:09:15. Young Felix Pepper, who recently turned four-years-old, ran his first junior parkrun at the Walks, and was supported by other young runners from the club over the 2k course. Many of the team took on several volunteering roles to cheer him on along the course and they were delighted to see the enthusiasm of all of the young participants in attendance. At Sandringham, it was an extremely cold evening for the first Run Luminate 5k run, but this failed to deter the seasonal spirits of the participants.Whilst many took the option of a gentler run to take in the sights and sounds of the course through woodland with incredibly colourful lighting showing the way, Dylan Whitehouse still managed a sub-20-minute finish. He was followed, in no particular order, by Jake Whitehouse, Claire Whitehouse, Finley Whitehouse, Alan Bartrum, Jo Bartrum, Shannon Tinkler, Alex Warby, Janet McCarthy, Michelle Foreman, Amy Foreman, Joanna Shinn, Charlie Cooper, Katie Shirley, Mark Garrett, Helen Garrett, Sherrie Watson, Toni Backx, Hollie Little, Linda Pepper, Kirsty Slater, John Greenwood, Jane Kendle, Martin Stevens and Tim Aske.Whilst many of the club’s runners are also members of other local clubs, that have first claim on their runners at the official events, our informal running group is pleased to support and cheer along runners who can attend the club nights held outside the Pavillion on Thursdays from 6:45pm. With the winter nights currently making it difficult to run along roads in the dark, we meet for some enjoyable interval training around the field, which is suitable for all abilities.Strong running shoes and head torches are recommended kit.The running is usually followed by a chance to join in with a friendly chat and to enjoy some cake.
