Grimston Cricket Club is facing the biggest season in the club’s history as it looks to continue its growth and progress from the last few years. In the space of only three years, Grimston Cricket Club has grown and will start the 2025 season with more than 100 players (compared to only 15 a few years ago) and three senior hardball teams (compared to one). The Saturday first team, captained by Andrew Tillbrook, the Sunday first team, captained by Harry Ward and the newly-formed Grimston CC Lions, captained by Sam Adkin.Returning after a fantastic first season is the ladies softball team, captained by Carrie Nichols and three youth teams, the under-11s, 13s and 15s.Finishing fourth in the league after a hard-fought 2024 season on their return to Saturday cricket and after being absent for a decade, they are keen to build on this success with new signings, including Ben Wilson and Mark Pickering.Wilson, a former England Pathway and Herts youth player, joins from Brayford CC and is a prolific batter, scoring more than 7000 runs, with an average of 40.Mark Pickering is a great all-rounder who adds pace to the club’s bowling attack, he played for the Sunday team last season after joining from Dersingham and Sandringham CC. With the new signings and experience in Saturday cricket, Grimston hope to go all the way and win the promotion this season. After ending last season as runners-up, the Sunday first team are hoping to bring the same drive and determination to 2025, aiming for promotion along with our Saturday side. The new addition to the club this season is the GCC Lions team. The Lions will be bridging the gap between youth/softball cricket and hardball league cricket. With a strong focus on youth and ladies players, supplemented by a handful of more experienced players, the aim for the season is to have fun and bring lots of players into league cricket.Having roast potatoes at The Three Horseshoes after matches is an added incentive. Everyone at Grimston is itching for their first games this season and to be back outside doing what they love most.If you enjoy a cold drink in a beautiful location, the club’s bar will be open. Don’t forget the added bonus of watching a fantastic sport at a club steeped in history with an amazing atmosphere. All of Grimston’s fixtures are available online at www.grimston.play-cricket.comIf sitting and watching isn’t enough, join in. New players are always welcome.
