Swaffham Reserves faced fourth-placed Horsford United in Division Three of the Anglian Combination on Saturday, fielding an aspiring young line-up, bolstered by a couple of experienced heads.
Goalless in the first half, despite chances at both ends, the deadlock was finally broken by substitute Emre Upston, firing home from the edge of the box.
The Pedlars then made it two with a superb effort from another substitute, Tyler Reeve, a shot from the left-hand side of the box beating the keeper and finding the right-hand top corner of the net.
The visitors got one back late into the half and then levelled in added time, stealing the thunder from the young Pedlars squad, but not taking away from the spirited performance. Next weekend they are again at home, Caister Reserves making the trip.
Out on the Myers playing field, Swaffham A faced Rockland United in the Ben Smith Memorial Cup. Harry Exley netted an impressive hat-trick and Will Butters also scored in a 4-1 victory. There is cup action again next week, this time in the Pease League Cup, with a short trip down the road to play Narborough.
Despite taking the lead in the first minute through Vinny Marchetti, Swaffham Youth suffered a crushing 6-1 defeat against Dereham Town. The Magpies scored three in each half to take the points home to Aldiss Park.
