New King’s Lynn Town signing Bailey Clements wants to use the club as a platform to resurrect his career.Clements, 24, arrives at Lynn after spending last season with Hornchurch in the National League South. The youngster spent 14 years at boyhood club Ipswich Town and is Lynn’s second new signing under head coach James Rowe.Clements said: “I thought it was an opportunity for me, having dropped down to part-time last season.”It would be a very good platform for me to build back up and hopefully kick on again in my career.”I like the manager’s drive, his desire, and the plan that he’s displayed to me. Obviously, I think it’s a good fit for me.”He was at Chesterfield just before I went up, and I followed after he’d left. He’s from the same area as me, so we’ve always seemed to cross paths, but not directly. “I like to think I’ve got a good range of passing, I’m a solid defender, join the attacks when I can, and hopefully chip in with some assists and plenty of clean sheets.” The left-sided defender made eight appearances for the Tractor Boys in the 2021/22 season. He also had a few loan spells at Hemel Hempstead, Dagenham & Redbridge and with League One side Stevenage. The youngster featured 19 times for the Urchins last season and has no qualms about making the switch from the South to the North. “I don’t think it makes any difference,” he said.”There are a lot of teams in the South that are a long, long way away from Hornchurch, and travelling down to Truro and Torquay, there are some big clubs in that league as well. “I think it opened my eyes, leaving Ipswich and going to Chesterfield in the National League. The standard of football is still very, very high at this level. You can never expect an easy game from anybody.”And when approached about what fans can expect from him, Clements replied: “It’s a given, but 100 per cent every game, I’m never going to shy away from anything.”I’ll give my all every time I step out onto the pitch and hopefully we can reward the fans.”
