West Norfolk Swimming Club were second team overall at the Warwick Thompson Memorial Gala in Thetford, with many of the swimmers taking part in their very first competition.Arabella Bishop (15 years) led the way with 10 medal places and five personal bests. She took gold in the female 50m and 100m butterfly and 50m and 200m breaststroke events while Daisy Covell, in the same age group, brought home seven medals and five personal bests, clinching gold in the 50m backstroke and 100m breaststroke.Cory Hill and David Roczniak both saw success in the 15 years male category, with Hill victorious in five of his eight medal-winning performances, bringing home gold in the 200 individual medley, 50m and 100m butterfly and 100m and 200m breaststroke. Roczniak swam to gold in the 50m and 200m freestyle, 200m backstroke and 200m butterfly races.Andrej Taplin took home a gold medal and PB time for the 15 years male 100m backstroke.Ten-year-old Sonny Roberts gained personal best times in all of his seven races, bringing home a six-medal haul across all strokes with three golds and two silvers.William Bradney (10) achieved three personal best times, coming second in the 50m butterfly.In the same age group Oliver Anderson achieved personal bests in both his races while Arlo Brown clinched a personal best in his 50m freestyle event. Also competing in this youngest age group were the girls as Lily Nell, who brought home two medals in personal best times, included gold for her 50m butterfly. Ellie Kitt won a silver and bronze both with new personal bests while Ella Smith swam personal best times in all three of her events. Other gold medals were achieved by Amelia Rodgers (12 years), who achieved personal bests in all ten of her races, bringing home five medals with three golds and two bronzes. Lacey Waterson in the same age group also achieved personal bests in all of her races with a gold and silver medal included, while Joseph Cook swam his two races with personal bests, bringing home a gold and bronze medal in the 11 year age group.Anwen Jones (11) had two personal bests and a medal in every colour across her three races. Emma Wilson, also in the 11 year age category, swam to victory with a personal best in the 100m individual medley and silver in the 200m butterfly while Martha More (11) clinched the gold medal in the same race.Teddy Roberts (14) took gold in a personal best for his 200m individual medley while Edward Murray (17) completed the club’s gold medal haul with his 200m freestyle swim, in another personal best.Eliza-Grace Codling (silver and bronze), Charlie Bradford (silver) and Thomas Murray (silver) completed West Norfolk’s medal tally, with Brooke Newson clinching a personal best in her 11 year 50 freestyle race.
