All to play for as Tigers hit top spot

The fixture of the day in the MNYL Under 12 Girls division saw Gaywood host Terrington Tigers.

Both sides offered up some exciting football, but it was ultimately the Tigers that took the spoils.

Despite some more great Gaywood goalkeeping, a Laila Ringer hat-trick which included two fabulous strikes, and another from Poppy Allan did the damage, it finished 4-0 in a very impressive display.

The other game to beat the weather in the Under 12’s had Necton travelling to Watlington.

It was Watlington who were too strong on the day, keeping on the pressure at the top of the table.

Were it not for a friendly “dubious goals panel” there could’ve been an incredible four own goals in the game, but all stakeholders will be pleased to see them awarded.

Taylor De Nobriga (3), Tia Rowland (2), Evie Drew, Chloe Murfitt, Emily Rust and Taliyah Tapey were the Watlington scorers then in a dominant 10-0 victory.

Conditions were “less than ideal” in the MNYL Under 14 Girls clash between Gaywood and Heacham, with wet and windy weather adding to an already heavy pitch.

It was Gaywood that settled the quicker, taking the lead early on. Summer Mann responded for Heacham halfway through the first period, making it 13 goals in six games for her personally.

After the break, it was Heacham who looked the most likely, but they couldn’t find the breakthrough with mention going to Gaywood’s goalkeeper.

With only seconds remaining, it was Gaywood who secured the points capitalizing on a mix-up at the back.

In the other Under 14 fixture, Watlington hosted early pace setters Weeting Saxon.

It was Weeting that picked up the 5-1 victory to continue their charge.

Lacey Munden got Watlington’s goal in reply to Casey Aldis (2), Miley Mathers, Dzenisa Davidson and Tegan Greenacre strikes for the league leaders.
