It was a day of highs and near misses for the King’s Lynn Black Knights Wheelchair Rugby team as both their development and first teams took on the Bedford Tigers in two home games at Alive Lynnsport. The development team started the day, narrowly losing out to the Tigers with a final score of 14-10.It was a tightly-fought contest from start to finish, with the Black Knights’ Carl Ringwood getting the team on the scoreboard early, followed by an impressive breakaway try from Max Cawston, who outpaced several Tigers defenders across half the court.Nathan Hudson calmly added a conversion.Despite a strong defensive effort and relentless pressure, a missed conversion and a few costly mistakes allowed the Tigers to clinch the win.Luke Fisher’s outstanding all-around performance earned him Man of the Match. The first team secured a 34-22 victory in a thrilling encounter. The game remained close up to half-time, with the Black Knights leading 18-10. In the second half, the Black Knights turned up the intensity, delivering solid defence and sharp attacking lines.Pete Lauder scored twice and successfully converted five tries, while Tom Graves added a hat-trick of tries and Marley Bellamy chipped in with another.Despite a late surge from the Tigers during the closing stages, the home team held on for a well-deserved win. Steven Foster’s excellent defensive and leadership display earned him Man of the Match. The Black Knights thank all the team at Alive Lynnsport and the crowds who watched on for their invaluable support on the day. Thanks also go to Steve at SME Autos Ltd for sponsoring the games and providing the Man of the Match trophies and, of course, to the Bedford Tigers for travelling to King’s Lynn, as well as providing spare posts and leaving them for our use.The King’s Lynn Black Knights will face the Brentwood Eels on Sunday, April 27, sponsored by Adrian Flux.
