The 8.56 Foundation has been boosted to the tune of £23,000 after working closely with King’s Lynn Golf Club as its charity partner for the 2024-25 season. The Foundation, who aim to raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with men’s mental health, has been working with the golf club to raise awareness since the 2024 Captain’s Drive-In last February.Since being officially named as charity partner of the year the partnership has raised an incredible £23,000.The club and the foundation engaged in numerous events and meetings, including a highly successful 8.56 Foundation Golf Day and a sponsored swimathon by captain Richard Brown.Golf club members were consistently supportive throughout the year, and the generosity of the members is clear with such a significant amount raised.Outgoing club captain Richard Brown said: “The partnership between Kings Lynn Golf Club and The 8.56 Foundation got off to an excellent start, momentum that was maintained throughout the year.”The money raised will, of course, be extremely useful, but of equal importance has been the awareness raising that has happened through the engagement of the 8.56 with the club. “We intend that the link between club and charity will continue to ensure support is available when needed.” The funds raised will significantly enhance the Foundation’s Wellbeing Pathway, enabling us to continue providing vital support to individuals in need. The money will specifically bolster the Foundation’s Talking Therapy counselling services, which are crucial for those seeking mental health support.Matthew Oakes, chair of the 8:56 Foundation, expressed his gratitude, adding: “We are deeply thankful to King’s Lynn Golf Club and its dedicated members for their incredible generosity. “The funds raised will directly support our Wellbeing Pathway, allowing us to continue our Talking Therapy Counselling services and to provide mental health first aid training in and around our community.”This will make a real difference in the lives of many individuals who rely on our support and services.”Oakes added: “Funding for mental health initiatives is more important than ever, and thanks to the commitment of King’s Lynn Golf Club, we can continue our mission to provide essential resources to those in need.”
