King’s Lynn were unable to land a blow on defending ROWE Motor Oil Premiership champions Belle Vue as they went down to a 57-33 defeat in Manchester on Monday.Whilst the PSH Environmental Stars should have won the reverse fixture on their home track last week, and would have done but for mechanical issues, their first league match of 2025 on the road turned out to be a different story. The Aces dominated on their own patch with British Champion Dan Bewley racing to a paid maximum from five rides, whilst fellow heat leaders Brady Kurtz and Jaimon Lidsey also hit double figures. For the Stars, Niels-Kristian Iversen battled away for a string of second places after conceding a 5-1 in his first ride when Zach Cook held him off, but the Dane was the only visiting rider to avoid last places.Stars manager Rob Lyon said: “It was a very disappointing meeting for us, and two race wins all night sums it up.”Richard Lawson did give Lynn a decent start with a win over Kurtz in Heat 1 but an indication of the night ahead came when Chris Harris ground to a halt when in a clear lead of the reserves’ race on lap three, handing the Aces their first 5-1.The hosts moved into an early ten-point lead as Jake Mulford snatched third place from Ashton Boughen in Heat 4, before Lynn briefly stemmed the tide as former Aces rider Ben Cook defeated fellow countryman Jaimon Lidsey in Heat 5, with Lawson in third place. But Belle Vue then collected two 5-1s in the next three races, Heat 8 proving a highlight for the home fans with Norick Blodorn and Mulford both passing Boughen, the latter off the final bend, with Lawson running an uncharacteristic last. Lidsey kept the run of Belle Vue wins going in Heat 9 despite the best efforts of Harris, and there was little change to the scoreline difference between the sides over the next block of heats, save for an Aces 4-2 in Heat 10 when Iversen just got the better of Blodorn for second. But the home side’s big two of Kurtz and Bewley both cleared Ben Cook in the early stages of Heat 13 for a 5-1, and Zach Cook then came from the back for the Aces in Heat 14 to pass Iversen for the win on the last lap.Bewley completed a faultless paid maximum in the finale whilst Iversen and Ben Cook managed a 3-3 after Lidsey got into difficulty when trying to come through. Lynn head north again on Thursday when they head to Sheffield in their next league match, before facing Leicester at the Adrian Flux Arena next Monday (April 14).Belle Vue 57: Dan Bewley 14+1, Jaimon Lidsey 11, Brady Kurtz 11, Norick Blodorn 7+2, Jake Mulford 7+1, Zach Cook 5+1, Tate Zischke 2+1.King’s Lynn 33: Niels-Kristian Iversen 11, Ben Cook 7+1, Richard Lawson 5+1, Jan Kvech 4+1, Chris Harris 3+1, Ashton Boughen 2, Nicolai Klindt 1+1.
