Linnets out to boost play-off hopes at Leamington

Linnets boss Adam Lakeland remains unconcerned about the tight nature of the National League North table and wants his side to keep churning out results.Lynn occupy the final play-off spot – a point above Curzon Ashton who have two games in hand – heading into their final six games of the campaign.They travel to Leamington tomorrow, and Lakeland said: “We’re at the stage of the season now where it’s all about points.”We will go there trying to win, as we go into every game trying to win. We’re under no illusions about how difficult it’s going to be as they beat South Shields there 2-0.”Paul’s (Holleran) teams are always honest, hard working and a threat so we know it is going to be difficult.”We’ve got a full week to prepare for that game and it will be a completely different one to the one we had against Buxton.”It’s about churning out results. We had a bump in the road last week, and a big bump where we were poor, but I thought we were great against Buxton and it was a really important win for us.” The Brakes, who knocked the Linnets out of the FA Trophy earlier in the season, are now mathematically safe from relegation – but manager Paul Holleran wants his players to keep pushing on. Holleran told BBC CWR: “It’s probably the first time we have been at this stage of the season in this league and we’re not really looking over our shoulder. It’s lovely.”The pressure I’m putting on the players is to keep pushing on. This is a nice kind of pressure.”We want to try and get to 60 points and it’s important that we don’t stand still. “The message after the last week or two is that we want to keep improving on what we’re doing.“We want to keep driving on, picking up more points, going toe to toe with these big clubs.” Defender Kian Ronan will be back in the Lynn squad for the trip to Warwickshire after playing 90 minutes for Gibraltar against both Montenegro and Czech Republic in World Cup qualifiers in the last week.Lynn’s trip to Warwickshire is one of several big games for senior West Norfolk sides tomorrow. The Thurlow Nunn Premier Division title race looks like it is going right down to the wire.This weekend is likely to have a big say in the overall outcome, with two huge games at the top end of the table.Second-placed Downham Town host fourth-placed Mulbarton Wanderers at the Memorial Field, while fifth-placed Fakenham Town travel to eighth-placed Thetford Town.Downham were knocked off top spot on Tuesday night after Brantham Athletic defeated Lakenheath 2-1. Dale Stokes’ side remain firmly in the hunt with just one defeat in their last 11 games.The Ghosts have picked up ten points from their last four games and will go into the game full of confidence against a Thetford side who have lost five of their last six.Elsewhere, Heacham entertain Hadleigh United at Station Road after recording back-to-back league successes in the last ten days.In the First Division North, Swaffham Town take on Haverhill Borough.
