King’s Lynn boss Adam Lakeland felt their midweek draw with title-chasing Brackley was a fair result.A game of few chances at The Walks saw the Linnets held to a goalless draw by a Brackley side that started the day top of National League North.“We cancelled each other out,” conceded Lakeland. “We edged the first half and forced their keeper to make a really good save from the corner and then we got a bit of fortune in the second half when he’s hit the underside of the bar.“I felt we deserved that little bit of luck. All 22 men walked off that pitch having given everything and it was a battle of two physical sides.“Both teams defended the boxes incredibly well and competed fairly and honestly all game. We’re disappointed we haven’t done enough to win the game but on reflection a draw is probably fair.“It’s a clean sheet and another point, we’ve taken four points off them, so we’ve got to take the positives out of it.”While only Darlington have scored fewer goals than King’s Lynn in the top 15 sides in the table, only five teams have better defensive records. Lakeland knows that defensive solidity will be key for the rest of the season. “Back-to-back clean sheets, it’s a while since we’ve done that,” added the Linnets boss, whose side won 2-0 at Southport last weekend.“I think that’s our 14th of the season which is pretty good. If we’d have drawn on Saturday away from home and then won at home everyone thinks that’s a good four points.“We’ve done it the other way around but it’s still a good four points. It becomes an even better point if we can back it up again at the weekend. “The way the pitches are at the moment, they’re very lively and not conducive to getting it down and playing free-flowing football which we’ve done for much of the season.“We’ve had to become a bit stiffer in our approach and shape and off the back of that we’ve been pretty defensively sound. Hopefully we can keep this little run going.”King’s Lynn host mid-table Spennymoor Town this Saturday.
