West Norfolk AC athletes took part in a range of endurance events across the country.On Sunday a large number of members took part in the Cambridge Half Marathon.A still but warm and humid day led to tough conditions but it didn’t stop a number of personal bests on the day.Arran Reeve was first home for the club, claiming another best just a week on from setting a new parkrun best, running a fantastic time of 1hr16min05sec.Ryan Oakes wasn’t far behind his clubmate, running a blistering new best of 1:16.47.Other times: Callum Stanforth 1:22.45, Neil Stapleton 1:22.50, Oliver Foxwell 1:23.41, William Hayes 1:27.05, Darren Easter 1:25.40, Lee Richardson 1:33.22, Megan Miller 1:35.07, John Castleton 1:35.17 pb, Ben Collison 1:46.22, Rob Gosnell 1:47.00, Carl Pickett 1:49.51.Closer to home, Digby Frammingham was the club’s only representative at the Mike Groves 10k in Wroxham.Frammingham ran an impressively fast time of 40.57 on an undulating course.On Saturday, a number of the club’s younger athletes took part in the Inter Counties Cross Country meeting in Nottingham. The West Norfolk athletes were representing Norfolk against some of the finest athletes of their age in the country at another national cross-country event. Casey Ward ran an impressive 14.49 in the under-13 girls’ race (1.9 miles).Training partners Thomas Murray and Ethan Ward were in the under-15 boys’ race (2.5 miles). Murray ran 14.54 for 95th out of 311 with Ward’s 15.26 placing him 154th.In the under-15 girls’ race (2.5 miles), Jessica Lawrence ran an impressive 21.08. Athletes were selected to compete after placing in the top eight of their respective age categories in the Norfolk cross-country championships earlier this year.Madison Hicks and Olivia Ord also earned spots on the Norfolk team but were unable to compete on the day.Mitchell Bunn returned to action in the Battersea Half Marathon, breaking the club’s 17-23 age group record for the distance with an excellent time of 1:13.17.
