In their final match before the Christmas break, West Norfolk U13 delivered a commanding performance against North Walsham. The game opened with intensity as William Wedd-Johnson demonstrated his power in the midfield, creating space for Sam Wharton to secure the first try.North Walsham responded with equal determination, using their forward pack to drive over despite excellent defensive efforts from Harvey Taylor and Thomas Derges.West Norfolk’s rucking and breakdown work stood out, with Harrison Munden and Alfie Plumb ensuring quick, clean ball for the backs.Arthur Ratcliffe-Laming soon capitalised on a key turnover, showcasing vision and skill with an offload that led to Wharton’s second try.Moments later, Wharton completed his hat-trick, ripping possession and darting into the corner after a quick tap penalty.Toby Biggs reacted sharply to a loose ball, feeding Kye Flores to sprint away for his first try. Flores then added two more with his customary turn of pace, including a breathtaking 50-metre solo effort, following a North Walsham breakaway score. Wharton’s quick pop off the ground sent Biggs through to set up Wedd-Johnson for a well-worked try.Biggs wasn’t done yet, pouncing on a turnover to touch down himself.North Walsham struck twice more to stay in the fight, but West Norfolk’s teamwork sealed the win. The forwards’ tireless work-rate allowed the backs to shine, with Oliver Felgate, Ben Janusauskis, and Armandas Krasnekovas linking brilliantly to control possession and territory.Krasnekovas added two quick tries late on. Meanwhile, Zach Swash added the final flourish, sprinting clear after another well-timed assist from Ratcliffe-Laming to cap off a dominant 55-25 victory.Kai Clarke (on debut) and twin Karter (just his second game) brought an extra spark of energy, while debutant William Reeve impressed with brave tackling.A big thank you to shirt sponsor, Premcheck Ltd, for their continued support.
