A young bowler from Swaffham is celebrating her first call-up to the England ladies set-up.Nicole Moseley, 22, has gained selection for the Women’s Under-25 international team at the BIIBC International Series at Aberdeen Indoor Bowls Club, next February. It will be her first taste of under-25 international action, having been part of the indoor and outdoor England Academy as a 16-year-old.”I’m absolutely over the moon to be able to represent my country at this level, said Moseley after hearing the news.”I think it just goes to show that you have to dig in and keep trying, all the hard work and determination pays off.”Any achievement is there to be proud of, whether that be club, county, or national.”I sometimes don’t quite believe how far I have come and to think I started bowling because ‘it looked alright’ nearly 13 years ago and now I’ll be representing my country.” The Fakenham-based Gallow Indoor Club member has enjoyed a string of successes since first taking up the sport at the age of 10. Among her achievements, Moseley can boast of being a three-times Norfolk under-16 champion, an under-25 winner at Lynnsport IBC and Norfolk runner-up at under-18 and 25 level.Earlier this year, she made it through to the semi-finals of summer ladies’ singles at Kempston as well as reaching the semi-finals of the national Federation triples with Sam King and Danny Cawthorne. Her bowling journey began with Pentney Indoor Bowls Club before brief spells at Gallow and Spalding. Her next step was Lynnsport Indoor Bowls Club before returning to Gallow, where she still plays today and is also a level-one coach. “Playing with people of such a high calibre has had a massive impact on my game, of reading heads and shot selection.”I’ve learnt so much since I started bowling at the age of 10 and learn something new each time I step on the green. I find it easy going forward with the continued support I have from my team at Gallow IBC.” The former Hammond High School pupil, who harbours ambitions to represent the senior ladies’ side in the future, says several people have had a huge influence on her fledgling career.”My mum and dad have taken me all over the place and supported me throughout every game from when I started on and off the green while someone who has always supported me in my bowls journey is Daniel,” she said. “Daniel and I started bowling together in my very first season and he has given me unlimited support, advice, help and guidance.”He’s also someone who I trust to tell me the truth about the sport, whether it is a shot choice, areas to work on and my positives on the bowls green.”Daniel and I still play many competitions together and he has had a huge impact on my game, both physically and mentally, on and off the green.”
