King’s Lynn Town were staring relegation in the face when Greg Taylor arrived at the club less than a year ago.But how times have changed with Lynn now at the opposite end of the table and Taylor repaying the manager’s faith in bringing him to The Walks. The former Cambridge United man, who clocked up more than 330 league appearances at the Abbey Stadium, has been nothing short of a revelation since signing for the club permanently in the summer.Despite the home side’s best efforts, Storm Darrgah was winning a difficult afternoon until Taylor – again playing in an unfamiliar midfield role – produced a moment of magic to earn Lynn a huge three points and a third successive home win.Taylor’s 25-yard howitzer with his left foot came on the back of an immense display during the 4-0 win over Kidderminster Harriers last month.”Yesterday in training he did it with right foot and smashed it into the top corner,” said Lakeland.”He got it straight off the keeper and pinged it in from about 30 yards. Today he’s done it with his left and he’s just a phenomenal player. “He’s been unbelievable since he came in earlier in the year, initially on loan when we were at the complete opposite end of the table. “He’s obviously put his faith in me and the club in the summer when he’s come down to the National League North and for him to still have the application and the appetite and to just get on with it regardless of where we ask him to play, he just he’s just another example of what we’ve got in that dressing room and I’m pleased for him.”The game was never going to live up to the seven-goal thriller between the two sides in the corresponding fixture last season with the wind and rainBut the win continues the momentum going into a fourth successive home game against Alfreton Town next weekend. Lakeland isn’t bothered about league tables at this stage of the campaign, but the evidence is there for all to see as Lynn find themselves level on points alongside Curzon Ashton at the top, although his former club have a far superior goal difference.”We’ve just got to keep trying to win games,” said Lynn’s boss. “We had a little bit of a blip, shall we say, in terms of the results. I think we’ve won six of our last 10 league games, drawn, won and lost three and we’re still in a really strong position.”That’s the way that this league is. You might have little spells where you have little dips, but providing you win plenty of games, then you’re going to put plenty of points on the board. “You’ve got to credit the players for the way we’ve responded in these three home games off the back of obviously losing the three ahead of that and three clean sheets as well.”Just generally everybody to a man is giving us what we need and what I expect and now we’re we’re getting the rewards.”King’s Lynn Town (4-2-3-1): Boyes, Sass, Crowe (Crane 62), Wilson, McFadden; Taylor, Johnson, Barnes (Hughes 90), McCammon, Hmami; Margetts.
