Rink hockey players from Lynn continued their pursuit of a ninth Premier League title with a 7-2 win against Herne Bay United at Alive Lynnsport.Having seen Herne Bay have a mixed bag of results from their opening five games, Lynn knew this wouldn’t be a walk in the park. The hosts got off to the perfect start with a goal in the opening 30 seconds of the match, Josh Taylor converting from the penalty spot to open the scoring.Following a good spell of possession with Lynn adapting well to a change in the visitors’ tactics, Owen Norris added Lynn’s second with a forehand slapshot to beat the visiting goalkeeper. At this point, the game turned into a blue-card frenzy, with both sides receiving two cards each in the space of five minutes.Lynn was unable to convert the resulting directs; however, HBU put one of theirs away to give them their first of the game. This appeared to rock Lynn, who slumped into five minutes of lapse and, as a result, conceded a soft second goal, which looped into the net following a heavy deflection. Following a constructive team talk, Lynn started the second half the brighter of the two teams. The instruction to take more risks and offer more movement off the ball ended in another goal through TaylorThe game was now locked at 3-2 for the next 10 minutes, and Lynn knew that if they kept the ball well and got their passing game going, another breakthrough would come. With just over 12 to play, the game opened up, and Lynn capitalised on some slack defending from the visitors and pounced to score four goals in the next seven minutes. Jamie Griffin rounded off the scoring with a well-taken one-time finish.Herne Bay pegged Lynn back several times before the final whistle but it wasn’t enough to rock the hosts, who claimed their second win in as many games. Man of the match: Five-goal Josh TaylorThanks to sponsors Signworx, Tropics Two, Adrian Flux and EPIC Embroidery for their continued support. Thanks to the supporters, timekeepers and all of the match officials. This weekend, Lynn travel to ECU in what will be another tough fixture.
