Fakenham hosted Woodbridge at the Stringer Ground where they suffered a 26-36 defeat in the Counties 2 Eastern Counties fixture. With the sides earning one win apiece during the league last season, it was bound to be another good contest. The sides began the fixture by working each other out before the away side got the first score.A quarter of an hour into the game Woodbridge scored a try that they converted. It was the start of a seven-minute blitz, where they scored another two tries, with one conversion.Fakenham were able to stem the flow when fly-half Lloyd Marshall kicked a penalty to get his side on the board. With no more scores before the break, the half-time score was 3-19. Clearly, the first score after the restart would be very important. It came once more from the boot of Marshall, who slotted his second penalty of the afternoon to bring Fakenham within two scores of their opposition. However, Woodbridge earned their four-try bonus point soon after, crossing the whitewash to extend their lead, though with no conversion on this occasion.Fakenham fought back five minutes later through another Marshall penalty. Ten minutes later, winger Jack Bryan Green dived over the line in the right-hand corner to reduce the arrears further. The conversion attempt from the right touchline was unsuccessful, but the hosts had some hope. That hope was dashed five minutes later though, as Woodbridge scored a converted try to take the game away from Fakenham.Nonetheless, home inside-centre Tom Bane-Young scored a try on his return from injury. In a frantic final few minutes, Woodbridge scored their final try of the game, which went unconverted, before Brett Stolworthy returned the favour for the hosts, converted by Marshall. The Barsham Brewery Man of the Match went to hooker Rob Ward.
