Wins for Heacham, Downham and Swaffham Town while Fakenham Town lose

Heacham, Downham Town and Swaffham Town all tasted victory yesterday while Fakenham Town’s unbeaten sequence was ended.Heacham were 4-2 victors over Stowmarket in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division.There was also a 3-0 win for Downham Town over Long Melford but Fakenham Town suffered a 4-1 reverse at Yarmouth Town while in the First Division North Swaffham Town defeated Leiston U23s 2-1 for their first win of the season.League leaders Fakenham had Joe Keeley on target at Yarmouth but it wasn’t enough as the home side replied with goals from Charlie Barber, Louie Duffield (2) and Mitch Belmar to end the Ghosts’ seven-match unbeaten run.Next up for Alex Walpole’s side is a trip to Thetford Town in the Norfolk Senior Cup on Tuesday night.Downham Town are now unbeaten in eight games and up to seventh in the league standings following their win at the Memorial Field.Carlos De Rocha, Harley Murkin and Nick Castellan were on target for the hosts, who had Liam Miller sent off for a straight red card in the first half. After the game, the club took to X to say: “A couple of brilliant strikes from distance, alongside an N.Castellan finish, saw us come away with all three points and a clean sheet. “A sending off on half-hour made things difficult but we battled well throughout. Lloyd-Patrick made the most of a Leiston error to equalise after 15 minutes, sliding the ball under the keeper into the bottom left-hand corner of the net, before heading home his second goal of the game from a corner two minutes later.Luke Clemenson also grazed the post for the hosts before the half-time whistle.On Tuesday evening, the Pedlars welcome Dussindale and Hellesdon Rovers to the Uncle Luke’s Stadium for their second-round encounter in the Norfolk Hire Senior Cup.
