Linnets forced to settle for FA Cup replay

Worksop Town 1 King’s Lynn Town 1King’s Lynn Town came within a whisker of a brilliant FA Cup win in Nottinghamshire before a last-gasp equaliser earned the hosts a Tuesday night replay.Midfielder Josh Hmami looked to have earned the Linnets a place in Monday’s Fourth Qualifying Round draw with his first goal for the club at Worksop Town.Hmami fired Lynn in front as Lynn produced a stubborn defensive display on the plastic pitch at Sandy Lane.But their stubborn resolve was broken in the eighth minute of injury time as Luke Hall fired home a dramatic equaliser.Lynn were dealt an early blow when Kyle Callan McFadden limped off the field with a knee injury after 13 minutes after tangling with home striker Jordan Burrow.The Tigers – unbeaten in all competitions since the season’s opening day – came out of the traps quickly and Paul Jones was called upon to save low to his left to deny Dan Bramall three minutes after McFadden’s departure. It took the Linnets the first quarter of the tie to find their feet as they absorbed the early pressure from their hosts – and they took the lead after their first controlled spell of possession in the 26th minute. Fin Barnes picked out Hmami with a lovely weighted pass and the midfielder finished with aplomb to give the visitors the lead.Lynn had a couple of little scares towards the end of the first half while Barnes forced a late corner at the other end which came to nothing.Home appeals for a penalty were waved away by the referee 13 minutes into the second half as Grey Taylor used his strength to hold off Bramall in the box. Lynn missed a golden opportunity to double their advantage as McCammon saw his shot saved before tapping the rebound back into the hand of home goalkeeper Seb Malkowski.The Lynn backline did well to quell the threat posed by a Tigers side who have been scoring goals for fun coming into the game. Jones pulled off a great save with his body to foil Regan Hutchinson while McCammon fluffed his lines at the other end after finding himself clean through on goal.McCammon found himself through on goal for a third time 14 minutes from the end, only to be denied by a brave stop from Malkowski. A double change saw Lynn introduce new signing Theo Williams into the contest for the final 11 minutes as the new boy and Ross Crane replaced Gold Omotayo and Barnes respectively.Worksop threw the proverbial kitchen sink at Lynn and were rewarded as Hall lashed home into the top corner of the net after Sam Walker conceded a late free-kick on the edge of the box.The final whistle saw a handful of Lynn fans involved in some unsavoury scenes behind the goal for several minutes.Worksop Town: Malkowski, Hutchinson (Atherton 87), Wilde, Starchenko, Bencherif, Shiels, Hawkridge, Redford (Hughes 67), Burrow, Bramall, Hall.
