Linnets sign striker ahead of FA Cup clash

King’s Lynn Town have completed the signing of forward Theo Williams from Fleetwood Town.Williams arrives at the Walks from Fleetwood Town.The frontman progressed through the Sheffield United academy system and signed his first professional contract in July 2021.He has since been out on loan to Darlington and Farsley Celtic.Williams joined Fleetwood on a two-year deal in 2023 before switching to National League South side Torquay on loan before returning to Fleetwood.Manager Adam Lakeland said: “I’m delighted that Theo has joined the football club. He’s a player we’ve liked for some time and we did attempt to get him in the summer, so getting him over the line now is great business for us.”He’s an exciting player with great pace and acceleration, he can score goals, he plays off the shoulder and likes to run behind defenders. “It was important that following the departure of Bart (Cybulski), we brought another striker into the building to give us something completely different to the other options that we’ve got in Gold (Omotayo) and Jonny (Margetts). “I have got no doubt we will help improve Theo’s game, and if we can get a tune out of him – then I’m confident he’s a player that can do very well at this football club and in this league.”Hopefully he will move back up the pyramid, be it here at King’s Lynn or elsewhere in the future. I look forward to working with him”.Williams said: said: “I’m really happy to be here, I can’t wait to get started, work with the manager and players and get back to enjoying football.” Williams goes straight into the squad for Lynn’s tough trip to Worksop Town in the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Cup tomorrow.The Tigers have been unbeaten in the league since the 1-0 defeat against Macclesfield on the season’s opening day and during this time have notched 37 goals in all competitions. Their place in the Third Qualifying Round was achieved with victories over Stratford Town 3-2 and Basford United 6-3.Winners of the tie will receive £5,625 while the losers will pick up £1,875.
