King’s Lynn captain Niels-Kristian Iversen admits he’s been busier than ever during the club’s rider crisis. The experienced Dane took over the captaincy when Nicolai Klindt was injured, and he has been regularly called upon by manager Rob Lyon to take additional rides. In fact, over a recent run of four meetings, Iversen took the maximum total of seven outings on three occasions, and the points were also flowing with double figures in all of those encounters. He suffered a rare off-night in Monday’s disappointing defeat to Leicester, and will now bid to bounce back at Belle Vue next week.Iversen said: “I feel like I’m working overtime really, because I’ve been doing seven rides in most of the meetings“What can you say, it’s hard work but I do enjoy it and I think my form can be better, there’s still plenty of room for improvement.“But it’s not too bad either, and hopefully if I keep working it will start getting better and better. “As a team, we just have to get everything together. When we’re at our best we can win meetings.” Iversen also says the performances of Jan Kvech have come as a major boost since the Czech racer joined the club in mid-June.Kvech has adapted seamlessly to British tracks, so much so that the clash with the Lions was the first occasion in which he did not win a race, although he still scored 11.Iversen said: “He’s done really well, and I was impressed with him at Ipswich where he won his first two heats. “It’s not easy to come to that track for the first time, but he managed it really well and he’s proved to be a really good signing for us.“He’s been banging in the points for us, and he’s really looked good in pretty much all of the meetings.” With their play-off hopes now all but mathematically over, Lynn head for two away matches next week as they visit Belle Vue on Monday and Ipswich on Thursday. They should have news on Klindt shortly following his visit to a specialist yesterday, whilst a signing to fill the gap left by Tobiasz Musielak’s departure is still on the cards although like-for-like replacements have proved non-existent.
