Grimston were back in Saturday Division Four Norfolk Cricket League action away to North Runcton this weekend, following a one-week break.Grimston captain Andrew Tilbrook lost the toss and Grimston were sent out to field.Opening batters J. Booth and J. Hancock started brightly, but were both felled the bowling and fielding of B. Krishnan respectively.Captain Ben Newton put on an impressive performance, scoring quickly, before being caught leg-before-wicket by Grimston bowler Frosty.W. Hancock top scored for Runcton with 17 runs.Runcton were all out for a modest total of 109, with Krishnan and Frosty the pick of the bowlers with three wickets a piece.Grimston opened the batting with M. Mallett and A. Khalid, both of whom were run out in the first two overs – A. Roy and H. Waite claiming the run-outs. Captain Tilbrook also fell for a duck in the same over. With the scoreboard looking bleak for Grimston, Sam Adkin and James Allitt took to the crease with a rescue mission on their hands. By the time Allitt (33 runs) had been bowled – an unplayable delivery from A. Rowe – the scoreboard had recovered to 64-4.Oscar Prescott, batting at number 8, came to the crease to form the match-winning partnership with Sam Adkin.With the game tied, and one run needed to win, Prescott was caught behind after scoring 12 runs. Leo Woodcock saw the team home with a straight drive for one run, much to the jubilation of the Grimston fans.Adkin finished with 30 runs not out after a mammoth three-hour batting stint. Andrew Tilbrook was delighted with the result, and heaped praise on North Runcton, saying: “They really had us on the ropes all afternoon, but somehow we managed to pull off the win.”In the same Division, there were also wins for Downham Stow C at home to Thornham A while Birmcham A triumphed against their counterparts from Narborough.Elsewhere in the other divisions at the weekend, Thornham won their Division 1W clash against Brisley and North Elmham thanks to knocks from Alf Burgess (94) and Kevin Williamson (66).In 3W, David English took 5-12 for Gooderstone in their 80-run success over Rocklands A.
