Alfie helps his team to maximum points despite illness

West Norfolk Athletic Club’s Alfie Williams, James Greenhalgh and Charlie Williams competed in the National Athletics League Championship North division and Premierships divisions.Alfie and Greenhalgh represented the City of Sheffield and Dearne team in the third round at Bedford last weekend.Alfie helped City of Sheffield reach maximum points by winning the shot with an under par 14.22 put after being ill for the week.Williams hopes to recover some form at the LEAP event (Loughborough European Athletics Permit) at Loughborough Stadium as part of World Athletics European tour this week.James had a 6.33m best leap in the long jump for sixth place against difficult opposition.Unfortunately Greenhalgh did not finish the 400m hurdles but hopes to bounce back for the finals.Overall results saw Trafford take the win (581 points) and City of Sheffield took second place (504 points). This means over the three matches both Trafford and City of Sheffield will head into the promotion match at Bedford on August 3 along with the top two teams from the other three regions. The top two finishers at that event will start in the premiership next year.Charlie Williams competes for Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow in the NAL and represented them in the second round at Woodford last weekend.The young athlete competed in the Discus against top UK opposition and finished eleventh with a 33.85m throw and in the shot finished twelfth with an 11.26m put. Charlie said he struggled with the horrendous weather to find his form and is looking forward to some redemption in the finals next month.His Windsor Slough Eton and Hounslow team finished sixth place on the day.
