Sayell secures three more wins

Jenson Sayell claimed three more race wins in round five of the HKRC 2024 Kimbolton Festival at the weekend.The Marshland St James driver also claimed a runner-up trophy in the feature final in his Minimax 950 kart.The format was two days of racing instead of the usual one, with qualifying and two heats on Saturday, a third heat on Sunday a Pre Final, and the K Plate feature Final.With a 19-kart entry, practice indicated that Sayell had a good pace. In Qualifying Sayell was third fastest just 0.01 seconds behind the front pair.Sayell, 10, dropped to sixth at the start of Heat One but soon made his way up the field. He eventually finished second, crossing the chequered flag just 0.16 behind the winner.A determined drive in Heat Two saw him claim the victory after being held out wide dropping down to fourth at the start of the race.Sunday’s Heat Three saw a lights-to-flag finish despite intense pressure from behind. Having pulled out a half-second lead in the early stages, the Synergy drivers worked together to close the gap to Sayell. Although he was overtaken at one stage, Sayell regained the lead almost immediately to win just 0.04 seconds at the flag.The heat results saw Sayell start on pole for the Pre Final.He held on to finish second despite intense pressure from those behind him. The winner was found to have broken formation before the start signal resulting in a three-second penalty to give Sayell his third win of the weekend.The youngster started on pole for the 12-minute K Plate Final. He made an excellent start and set about creating a gap at the front.After being passed and emoted to second, Sayell did everything he could to try and pass the experienced leader but it wasn’t to be. He eventually finished just 0.21 seconds adrift at the flag but 3.5 seconds ahead of the driver in third.The West Norfolk driver was a bit disappointed but his dad Rob was impressed by his son’s performance, saying: “We are pleased with Jenson’s results over the weekend, he was top points scorer too which is great for the championship.”Jenson was smart in the final to ‘push’ Wheatley away from the rest of the pack to have a chance to fight at the end.”Sayell thanks his sponsors Infinity X, JLK Vehicle Solutions, Ark East Anglia Ltd, Hall Clean, Professional Aesthetic Enhancements Kings Lynn, Prestige Designs and Chris Phillips as well as Superstox 99 and Force Motorsport for a great engine for the event.The youngster will be back with his team TWR and GW Driver Development for the fourth round of the Cadet Kart Championship, at Rowrah, in Cumbria in a week where he will be aiming for yet more success.
