West Norfolk race ace picks up 2023 Super One Micromax Champions trophy

Christmas arrived early for Marshland St James’ Karting Champion Jenson Sayell on Saturday when he collected his 2023 Super One Micromax Champions trophy in a glitzy award ceremony held at Kart Mania at Silverstone.

As he took the top step on the podium showered in gold confetti, Sayell received a multitude of prizes including a new Bell crash helmet, a set of tyres, a photo canvas of his winning kart and more.

It was then back to the track on Sunday at Fulbeck Kart track where Sayell used their MSUK round for his first test session in the Minimax 950 class ready for next year with uprated 125 Rotax engine.

The youngster started out at Fulbeck and knows the track very well which was demonstrated when he won all six races in the two Super One Micromax rounds there in July.

Conditions were dry on Sunday, the Minimax 950s were joined in the races by similarly paced Iame Waterswift karts.

The youngster noticed the increase in power immediately in the short practice session commenting afterwards that it was “almost too quick” but he soon settled in and was quick from the off.

Ultimately, he won all three races by a substantial amount.

“It was so quick that the corners came up really quickly,” said Sayell afterwards.

“I was really pleased with the lap times for his first time in the Minimax 950 (also known as InterMAX) spec. It shows well for next season,” added father and mechanic Rob.

The team have registered for the Super One Championship and the Cadet Kart Championship (CKC) next year and plan to use club rounds for more testing until the National championships start in March.

Sayell’s next outing will be at Kimbolton this month when he will join their Minimax 950 grid as a guest.

The team thank Jordan Baines and James Taylor at Force Motorsport for supplying and upgrading an amazing power package as well as 2023 sponsors HD Installations, Chris Phillips – Superstox 99 and Will Dubs.
