Rushall Olympic 1 King’s Lynn Town 2
King’s Lynn Town staged a stirring second-half fightback as they came from behind to claim their second away win of the season at Rushall Olympic tonight.
Danny Waldron gave the hosts the lead 16 minutes before the break before late goals from Ben Stephens and a Bartosz Cybulski penalty saw Lynn extend their unbeaten run to four games to lift themselves out the relegation places.
Stephens twice went close to firing Lynn in front with long-range efforts but was thwarted by Rushall Olympic goalkeeper Jake Weaver.
The Pics took the lead 16 minutes before the break as the prolific Waldron netted his 12th goal of the campaign despite the best efforts of a Lynn defender on the line.
Lynn saw a couple of crosses flash across the face of goal while Weaver was on hand to deny a stinging shot from Kian Ronan on the stroke of half-time.
The visitors finally got back on level terms in the 76th minute after Ben Stephens nodded home a centre from Billy Jones.
Lynn dominated the final 15 minutes and were awarded a penalty heading towards stoppage time after Stephens was upended by Weaver in the box.
Cybulski held his nerve from the spot for the second successive game as the Linnets claimed their first-ever win at Rushall Olympic.
Before the game, Lynn announced the signing of wide player Gabriel Rogers, who has previously played for Yeovil Town, Torquay United and Kidderminster Harriers.
Born in Torquay, he’s twice been with the Gulls including time with their Academy, also featuring for Yeovil Town earlier in his career.
The youngster has also spent time on loan at Plymouth Parkway and helped the side clinch promotion to Step 3.
On the arrival of Rogers, Linnets boss Adam Lakeland said: “Gabby has been in training with us and has shown a great eagerness to reignite his career.
“We believe that with the environment and culture we are creating at the club and with the way we work with the players that we can help Gabby enjoy his football again and maximise his potential.
“If we can achieve that then I’m certain we’ll have a very capable player on our hands.
“He has super ability, can score goals, create chances, operate both out wide and centrally and I’m sure he will be a player our supporters will enjoy watching.”
Rogers came on for the final 18 minutes of tonight’s clash in the West Midlands.
On Saturday, Lynn host Spennymoor Town at the Walks.
