Snettisham race Callum Manley sealed a sensational season on the track by being crowned ‘Rookie Champion of Brands’ at the weekend.

Manley travelled to the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit for the last round of the season having already wrapped up the championship in fine style at the penultimate round.

The only title left up for grabs was the ‘Rookie Champion of Brands’ – a title awarded to the highest-scoring rookie over the two meetings held at the race circuit during the season.

Manley, who tested his machine to the limit by entering the Clubman 600 class as well, went into the round tied for points with title hopeful in the 1000cc class, Karl Thomspon.

The West Norfolk racer secured second place on the grid for the rookie class and followed it by placing his Honda fifth on the grid for the Clubman Class.

In his first rookie outing of the weekend, Manley’s machine catapulted off the line to claim first place from rival Frank Montini by the first corner.

He rode a smooth race to bring his Honda home for the win and claim a five-point lead in the Champion of Brands contest.

A quick turnaround saw him out again for the first Clubman race and, after a textbook launch, he eventually finished in third place by only 0.2 of a second.

Two more races were on the cards for Saturday afternoon, the second rookie race saw Manley bring his machine home to take the win.

Straight out for his second Clubman outing, Manley weaved through the pack, placing himself third after the first lap.

Another two skillful laps were completed with his machine delivering everything that was asked of it to see Manley clinch second place – a position he held for the remainder of the race.

On Sunday, the Snettisham race ace dominated the two rookie races of the day, coming home for the win on both occasions to claim a clean sweep of wins and the Rookie Champion of Brands.

In his first Clubman race, which he led for almost two laps, Manley pushed the limits of his tyre slightly too much resulting in a low side around Clearways and a DNF.

He was forced to start the final race from the back of the grid, but throughout the 11 laps he worked his way up to fifth in class with some impressive overtaking.

The final lap saw another rider take a late lunge into the corner in an overtaking manoeuvre but he was unable to stop in time and went into Manley, forcing him into another DNF.

Manley, who will be competing again next year in the hopes of claiming another title, is currently looking for sponsors to help him achieve his aim.
