Reffley in seventh heaven on opening day

Football fields across West Norfolk welcomed the return of North West Norfolk League on Saturday with some highly-competitive fixtures to kick-start the season.

In Division One, it was a strong start from Reffley who travelled to Clenchwarton.

The Reds have suffered the loss of Charlie Dungey and Charlie Rudland to Marshland Saints and Terrington but didn’t seem to miss them as they strolled to a 7-0 victory thanks to hat-tricks from Alfie Moulder and Dion Evans, whilst new signing from Ingoldisthorpe, Precious Bisong, also scored on debut.

Terrington left KLSC FC Reserves with a 4-1 victory.

Jordan Davies (2), Kodie Turvey and an own goal secured the three points whilst Jay Russell scored the consolation for KLSC.

Newly-promoted Ingoldisthorpe Reserves made a winning start in Division One with a 3-1 win at Watlington Reserves.

Goals came from Kai Mayes, Thomas Hostx and the experienced Rob Koziel ensured the points whilst Darren Van Campenhout struck for the home side.

Watlington finished the game with 10 men due to George Arnold being sent for an early bath by referee, Ray Venemore.

AFC Lynn Reserves asked for special permission to be promoted to Division One due to their ambitions to progress.

They started with a 3-1 win against West Lynn thanks to Kenzie Corbett, Christopher Cottey and Jack Royle. Jacob Summersgill hit the target for West Lynn.

Division Two saw some convincing scorelines, none more than the 12-0 win for Weeting Saxons against KLSC FC A.

The score was 4-0 at half-time but the quality shone through in the second half.

Daniel Murphy claimed six goals to emulate his two professional playing brothers whilst Jamie Howard and club legend James Langley each hit a brace.

Dersingham A are looking to build on last seasons title winning season and started convincingly with a 9-0 win over Clenchwarton Reserves.

Braces for Nathan Branch and Connor Peck complimented goals from Isaac Bloodworth, Billy Eastwood and James Wicklen.

West Winch suffered relegation from Division One but started with a 7-0 win at home against new side, Shouldham F.C.

David Edgar hit a hat-trick and Jack Purdy struck a brace to ensure the win.

Finally, league chairman Andrew Dix took the whistle in Docking Reserves 2-1 home defeat against The Woottons.

Mark Smith and Ashley Dickerson sealed victory for Woottons with Ross Woodhouse finding the consolation goal.
