Four goals in the final 16 minutes ended Fakenham Town’s plucky resistance in this season’s FA Cup at Hornchurch this afternoon.

The Step 3 Urchins proved too strong for the Ghosts, who had kept the score goalless going into the interval.

Andy Cunningham’s side reached this stage of the competition with victories over St Neots and Rushden and Diamonds in the two previous qualifying rounds.

Ade Yusuff fired Hornchurch in front 11 minutes after the restart before the Essex side’s extra class and fitness began to take its toll in the final quarter.

Sean Scannell, Sam Higgins (2) put the Urchins 4-0 up against their Thurlow Nunn Premier Division visitors and Yusuff added his second as the Isthmian League Premier Division outfit notched four goals in a crazy ten-minute spell.

Hornchurch are managed by former Norwich City striker Steve Morison

Steve Morison’s side have yet to be beaten in 12 matches – pre-season and competitive – under the guidance of their new boss, who succeeded Mark Stimson as manager in the summer.
