KL XTRA KL XTRA, Christmas Tunes for West Norfolk
A rugby-mad youngster from West Norfolk fulfilled every fan’s dream when he walked onto the hallowed turf at Twickenham on Saturday.
Toby Ring was picked as a mascot for England’s World Cup warm-up match against Fiji.
The ten-year-old from South Wootton, who is a pupil at Glebe House, in Hunstanton, was picked for the honour after his mum Jade nominated him to escort the players out of the tunnel and onto the pitch.
On his experience, Toby said: “I really enjoyed being a mascot for England. It was my first-ever international match at Twickenham.
“I ran out of the tunnel with George Ford and I felt excited about getting on the pitch to sing the national anthem.”
Toby’s mum Jade said: “All I would say is that Toby got to experience an incredible opportunity that so many young rugby fans dream about.
“He was selected by O2 to be their official England Rugby mascot after I nominated him for the job.
“To be able to run out of the tunnel with the England team isn’t something he’ll forget in a hurry. He’s now really looking forward to getting back into rugby training at West Norfolk Rugby Club.”
England have dropped from sixth to eighth in the world rankings after their 30-22 defeat – but Toby won’t care after a day he will never ever forget.
Toby, who has been playing rugby since the age of six, will be looking to show his skills out on the pitch when he returns to training with West Norfolk Rugby Club ahead of the new season.
