It was a disappointing exit from the League Challenge Cup midweek for Swaffham Town.
The Pedlars took the lead 22 minutes into the game, Dylan Edge smashing home from sixteen yards.
The balance was restored eight minutes into the second half through an unfortunate own goal.
The game then went to penalties, with Parson Drove winning by six to five.
Saturday and it was back to League action, the Pedlars maintaining their 100% start with a deserved four one victory over Whitton United.
John Sands pounced on a spilled ball and fired home in the twelth minute, relaxing pressure on the Pedlars.
His brace came in the seventieth minute, Kieran Bruce with a driving run down the left wing, cutting into the box and squaring for Sands to smash home from seven yards.
Number three for Swaffham came nine minutes later, a driving shot from Nick Davey eighteen yards out, spilled by the keeper, Gino Livoti making sure from six yards.
Davey got his just reward in the eighty ninth minute, the assist again from Bruce on the left touchline, providing the service for Davey to hammer home.
A consolation followed for the visitors five minutes into added time but it was too little too late for Whitton.
This weekend, the Pedlars are on the road to Cornard United, the ‘Ards’ also undefeated this season, then next Tuesday they make the trip to Norwich CBS.
The Reserves started their campaign away to Waveney Reserves, a contentious encounter, the home-side winning three-one, captain Shane Horsnell with the Swaffham goal.
With no game on Saturday, they next play Wednesday, August 23rd, when UEA Reserves make the trip to Shoemakers Lane.
The Young Pedlars had their first game of the 2023-24 season yesterday (Thursday) when Lakeford Rangers visited the ‘Uncle Luke’s’ stadium.
The Under 18 Floodlit League provides a great platform for the transition of youth players into the adult game, under the supervision of three officials and the oversight of the Eastern Counties Football League.
The Hospital Cup Committee were pleased to present a cheque for one thousand six hundred and thirty three pounds to Colin Houghton, Trustee of the Swaffham Community Hospital – League of Friends.
The Hospital Cup competition is one of the oldest in the county, contested by locally invited teams, the purpose being to raise money for this very worthy cause.
This years winners were Castle Acre Swifts.
