Jake Banwell will face the biggest challenge of his racing career this Saturday (4pm) when Stock Car Championship fever comes to the Adrian Flux Arena with a massive double header featuring the 1300 Stock Car World Championship and 2L Stock Car British Championship.

Banwell is the only local qualifier in the 1300 Stock Car Worlds and will start the big race on the fourth or fifth row depending how the draw goes. It is an excellent grid draw and if Jake can bring his A game he will be a serious contender for the main honours.

Banwell has worked his way into second place in the National Points but has yet to register a win in what has been a very competitive 2023 season. He has come close on several occasions but consistency and top five finishes are what has kept him towards the top of the points.

Jake knows he will need his killer instinct if the chequered flag drought is going to end but what a time it would be to get his first win of the season in the biggest race of the year and in front of a large home crowd.

London’s Lee Pearce defends the world title he won at Aldershot last season and he will be looking for a record breaking fourth win.

Several local 2L Stock Car drivers will be chasing the British title which is currently held by Scotland multi-champion Stuart Shevill Jnr. Shevill is looking to do the unthinkable and defend his title on the unfamiliar Lynn shale which he has not raced on for over three years.

Local drivers who will have high hopes of claiming the title include Keegan Sampson, Austin Freestone, Levi List and Chris Masters.

Racing also comes from the BriSCA F2 Stock Cars in which Marcus Gilbert, Scott Aldridge and Beth Usher are amongst the entries.
