King’s Lynn Town kicked off their National League North campaign with a draw at home to Hereford on Saturday.
The Linnets had a bit of a fright when they went behind early on but by half time they were level.
Lynn took the lead midway through the second period but the visitors fired back a couple of minutes later, and that was how it finished.
Linnets manager Mark Hughes acknowledged it had been a thrilling match to watch.
He said: ““It was a really exciting game. I thought we controlled possession first half, created some great chances, scored a really good goal. I was happy at half time.
“I thought we started the second half really well on a really heavy pitch. The way they set up was excellent. They had us on the counter a couple of times.
“But when we got the second goal I was a little bit disappointed to concede straight away.
“I thought when the subs came on they made a great impact and I thought the winner was going to come but it didn’t. But, a real positive start.”
Both of King’s Lynn’s goals were scored by Jordan Ponticelli, for whom Hughes had nothing but praise and his strikes.
Hughes said: “Two different goals, the first one a great finish and the second one he took that touch, got it at his feet and whipped it in.
“He knows he’s our number nine now and no-one works hard than him. If I was a centre half, I’d hate to play against him.
“He’s hit the ground running which is really pleasing for King’s Lynn. But credit as well to Ben Stephens and Barrett. They were supplying him with chances. Some of their movement was really, really good.
“The way we created those chances, our little phases of play, we’ll win a lot of games at home if we play like that.
“The way we played, I was really, really pleased with the chances we created.
“It was a good point because there were two good sides out there and I think the fans appreciated it. And I appreciate their support.
“Pleasing going forward and the only disappointment was just straight after our goal, but these things happen and I’m not going to dwell on it too much.
“Things didn’t go our way to get the three points, but we’ll take the one.”
