King’s Lynn have made a double team change ahead of their Sports Insure Premiership trip to Wolverhampton tonight – while Russian ace Artem Laguta has been ruled out through injury despite reding abroad at the weekend.

The MacInnes Stars will welcome back locally based Simon Lambert to race in the top-flight for the first time since 2019 as they plug the gap left by the departure of Frederik Jakobsen.

Lambert, who first raced for the club at NDL level way back in 2004, is currently in some of the best form of his career as he racks up big points for Scunthorpe at Championship level.

He also made an impressive Premiership guest appearance for Belle Vue against Peterborough earlier this week.

Joining Lambert at reserve will be a change in the Rising Star position as the Stars have moved to bring Anders Rowe back into the UK top-flight, with Jason Edwards making way.

Rowe, who races for Poole in the Championship, has recent Premiership experience with Ipswich and also enjoyed a strong performance in the recent SGP2 (World Under-21) round at Prague.

Promoter Keith Chapman paid tribute to the efforts of Edwards, who is regarded as one of the sport’s best young talents, but whose results for the Stars have been markedly better in his away matches.

He said: “I had a long chat with Jason before I’d even spoken to Anders, and I explained it’s nothing personal against him. I’ve just got to try and get better results for the team.

“I told him if we ever needed him we’d love to have him back because he’s such a nice lad, but he’s not firing at the moment and it’s knocking his confidence.

“I know it’s going to be a bit tough on Kye (Thomson) going into the top five but he can cope, he’s good enough, and I think he and Simon may well swap places in the team and reserve for the rest of the season.

“Simon is in good form and I had try and do something, so we will have these changes in place in time for Wolverhampton.”

Chris Harris is due to guest at No.1 for the King’s Lynn Stars in their Sports Insure Premiership match at Monmore Green.

Harris comes in for Laguta, who is out injured despite riding for Polish outfit Sparta Wroclaw on Sunday.

Harris comes in for the MacInnes Stars to replace Artem Laguta, who is out injured.

Nick Morris, who also rides alongside Harris for Leicester, also steps in for the Stars with Michael Palm Toft on the sidelines.
