King’s Lynn Town manager Mark Hughes has ventured into the transfer market for the first time this summer by bringing in a new midfielder.
The Linnets have completed the signing of Jack Smith from League One side Stevenage.
The London-born midfielder, aged 22, has been with Stevenage since 2019, making 29 appearances for the Hertfordshire side.
He’s been on loan to Braintree Town, Kettering Town and most recently, Dartford, racking up 51 appearances across his spells.
Smith cited Mark Hughes as a vital part of his move to the Walks on the club’s website, stating that he’d had “a lot of conversations” with the gaffer and knew what was expected of him.
He also revealed that he “couldn’t wait to put the shirt on” and is targeting promotion in his message to the fans.
Up until this evening, Lynn had yet to announce any new signings.
Smith’s arrival comes after a dramatic week which saw three players jump ship on Thursday night.
Defender Aaron Jones was reunited with former boss Tommy Widdrington, as was his son Theo, at Aldershot while Tai Fleming put pen-to-paper for National League North rivals Banbury United.
