There was little cheer for West Norfolk drivers during an action-packed night of racing at Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena on Saturday night.

A fantastic turnout of 1300 stock cars saw a full “BriSCA” type format being run with a qualifiers only final. The racing was great throughout and hopes were high pre meeting that local star Jake Banwell would be able to overturn the 12-point deficit to hit the top of the National Points.

Banwell did well in his heat battling through from the back of the grid.

Unfortunately he just missed out on a top ten finish coming home in 11th place and disaster struck when he crossed the line and he blew his engine.

A massive effort by the team saw them change the engine prior to the consolation but a snapped crank sensor bolt put paid to any chance of getting back out on track.

With Banwell out of the picture local fans were hoping for something big from the Predators in the two-litre banger War of the Worlds.

However a lone runner-up spot by Kieran Bowman was the sole high spot for Predator fans.

Kieran also lost more ground in his chase to win the Entertainer League this season and a successful defence of the title is looking a very tall order for Bowman and his team.

Troy Cobbett produced some cheer for local fans with a heat win as he raced for Matt’s Mafia whilst Jon Cooper was in the middle of the action throughout for the same team as well.

Lee White’s Team Mates won the team title whilst Jordan Sharpe’s Sharpe Boyz and Ben continued their impressive entertainment performance with another team entertainer league success.

Fakenham’s Jamie Steele bowed out of the junior bangers with a heat win whilst Sam Malkin had one of the best meetings of his career which included a tremendous third place in one of his races.

Morgan Bailey was also amongst the places in the juniors whilst William Cartwright, Jack Garrod and Millie Turnbull also put in some great performances.

There is no racing at Lynn this weekend with the next meeting taking place on Saturday, July 1.

This will feature the Unlimited Banger War of the Worlds team meeting with BriSCA F1 and F2 stock cars also in action.
