Dersingham Reserves win six-goal thriller in last four

It was league cup semi-final weekend in the North West Norfolk Football League with eight teams looking to secure a place at Fakenham Town FC in April’s finals.

Dersingham Reserves hosted Docking Rangers at The Pastures and ran out 4-2 victors.

Goals from Conor McQuaid, Kieran Nurse, and Ben Harris (2) ensured their final spot.

Docking gave their all and stayed in the fixture until the end but strikes from Tom Hawkins and Bradley Durham were not enough.

Their opponents on April 28 will be Marshland Saints. They travelled to Reffley and secured a 5-2 win.

The Division Two League Cup final will take place on April 21 and will see Gayton Old Boys face off against Weeting Saxons.

Gayton Old Boys took on table toppers Ingoldisthorpe Reserves and ran out 2-1 winners in a tightly contested game. Goals came through Miles Easey and Brad Tennant.

Weeting made the final in easier fashion with a 4-1 win against AFC Lynn Napier Reserves.

Paul Carr, Conney Killick and Lewis Steggles struck for the Saxons whilst Joe Elliott found the consolation goal for Napier.

In Division One league action, second place Heacham Reserves were the visitors to a makeshift KLSC Reserves.

KLSC were eighth in the table and an incredible start saw them 3-0 up within just 14 minutes.

The second half was started just as sharply with two disallowed goals but still able to put another four past their defence.

Jay Russell nabbed a brace and assisted two, and Kieran Morton got his first of the season within minutes of coming on the pitch and narrowly missed a second.

Charlie Edgely was on fine form with one goal and two assists. Dimitri Sarmanluc came on and Heacham struggled with his pace, runs and quick feet whilst he nabbed himself a brace.

The league’s bottom side, West Winch, found themselves 3-1 down to Terrington at half-time.

However, a second half resurgence allowed Winch to turn the game on its head and finish 6-4 to the better.

Scorers included Ethan Adams, Jordan Davies and Kodie Turvey.

There was also a 2-0 victory for league leaders Ingoldisthorpe as they hosted Watlington Reserves.

There were two league fixtures in Division Two, including the one between Dersingham A and Docking Reserves.

Dersingham took a 4-1 lead in the first half, goal scorers Gary Bowman, Sunny Devlin, Billy Eastwood and Harvey Hughes, with Hayden Neave replying for Docking.

However, Docking never gave up and, in the second half, forced Dersingham’s goalkeeper Kieran O’Grady to make two good saves plus a penalty stop.

Dersingham’s Kris Smith scored a further two goals to cap a good display from both sides.

Docking named Joe Leverett as their Man-of-the-Match but Dersingham could not split two outstanding performances, so they named Connor Peck and Tom Raisbury as their Man-of-the-Match.

North Lynn welcomed Reffley Reserves but were on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline.

Scorers included Dion Evans, Shane Cousins and Carl Wake.
