King’s Lynn’s youngest roller hockey team enjoyed a day to remember as they took part in their first-ever tournament, showing skill, determination, and plenty of promise for the season ahead.

For most of the squad, it was a debut outing, and they faced a tough opening test against an experienced Letchworth side.

Lynn fell behind early but grew into the game, with goalkeeper Dominic Kirkbright producing a string of fine saves to keep his side in contention.

At the other end, captain Zachary Rawlinson – the team’s only player with prior tournament experience – led by example, not only marshalling the defence but also scoring all four goals in a superb individual performance.

His efforts sealed a 4-1 victory and gave Lynn the perfect start.

Confidence was high going into their second match against Soham Light Blues, another youthful side, and the Lynn youngsters turned on the style to claim a resounding 16-3 win.

Jaden Houghton was the star of the show, netting a double hat-trick, while Percy Barry used his speed to great effect, scoring twice.

Paige Lamacraft impressed with her movement and positioning, going close on several occasions, while Alexa King showed composure on the ball and created chances with some clever passing.

At the back, Charlotte Chapman demonstrated strong tackling and defensive awareness.

With two wins from two, Lynn U11s showed that despite their lack of experience, they have the talent and potential to be competitive this season.

A club spokesperson said: “It’s such a pleasure to see the excited faces and the smiles when children play their first tournament.

“It reminds us why we give up so much time and energy to this brilliant, addictive but hugely underappreciated sport.”

The team continues to welcome new players. Training sessions are held at Lynnsport every Friday at 6pm, with the first three sessions free and equipment provided.

King’s Lynn U11s are sponsored by Oselton Builders, whose support has been vital in helping the youngsters take their first steps in the sport.
