Royston Town 1 King’s Lynn Town 5

King’s Lynn Town put a turbulent week behind them with an excellent FA Cup win at Royston Town this afternoon.

A brace from Ross Crane and further goals from Michael Gyasi, Morgan Williams and Joe Nyahwema sealed a one-sided affair against the Crows as Lynn dug deep following the resignation of James Rowe on Wednesday morning.

The club remains tight-lipped regarding the full reasons for Rowe’s sudden departure, but he was hardly missed as the Linnets delivered a professional display against their Southern League Central Premier Division hosts.

Gyasi and Williams put Lynn two goals to the good inside the opening 15 minutes and Nyahwema got into the act as Lynn took a three-goal cushion into the break.

Crane took over after the break with a double and, although Royston scored a late consolation from the penalty spot, Lynn played with plenty of freedom in what could have proved a potentially tricky tie.

The Linnets made three changes to the team that drew 1-1 at Marine last weekend.

Louis Chadwick came in for the cup-tied Aaron Chapman between the posts, while Joe Nyahwema and Jack Lambert came in for Gold Omotayo and Tom Dickens, respectively.

Lynn dominated possession in the opening ten minutes and it was some trickery from Nyahwema that paved the way for the visitors to take the lead after eight minutes.

Nyahwema beat the attentions of two home defenders before playing a little ball through to Gyasi to score off the post.

Four minutes later, it was 2-0 as Williams’ speculative effort took a wicked bounce past home goalkeeper Jamie Head.

Gyasi saw another effort saved by the body of Head as Lynn, other than a couple of yellow cards for Lambert and Hall-Johnson, remained in full control.

The third goal arrived in the 37th minute, with Gyasi providing the assist for Nyahwema to smash the ball high into the roof of the net.

Lynn’s fourth goal arrived ten minutes after the restart, following a delightful piece of skill and finish from Crane on the edge of the box.
