Jenson Sayell produced a brilliant performance at Shenington to clinch the runner-up spot in the 2025 Super One Championship.
The Marshland St James youngster turned a six-point deficit into a commanding 28-point advantage with a haul of one win, four second places and a third from six races.
The 2024 InterMax Champion had arrived in Oxfordshire in third place, chasing down the runner-up spot in the final two rounds.
But after a brilliant weekend, the young race ace left no doubt about his quality, cementing his place among Britain’s top young karting talents.
Sayell, backed by TWR Pantano, went into the meeting under pressure after a difficult end to his CKC campaign.
A switch to an RPM-built engine proved decisive, with strong pace in Friday testing carrying into the weekend.
Quickest in Saturday practice, Sayell stormed to pole position in qualifying and never looked back.
He pushed hard throughout the heats, taking the fastest laps and fighting wheel-to-wheel at the front of the pack.
A second and a reinstated second after post-race penalties set him up for Saturday’s Final, where he held his nerve under pressure to secure another podium in second place.
Sunday saw the youngster at his best.
After qualifying just 0.09 seconds shy of pole, Sayell stormed to victory in Heat Two with a dominant lights-to-flag drive, setting multiple fastest laps.
He capped the weekend with another strong second in the Final on a drying track, sealing the points he needed to secure second overall in the Championship.
Proud father and mechanic Rob Sayell said: “Having won the Super One Championship in 2023 and 2024, to finish runner-up in 2025 is amazing.
“Jenson has struggled with a lack of pace for much of the season, whilst also helping develop the Pantano kart.
“With the new RPM engine, we saw the ‘old Jenson’ back with more pace and reliability. We are so proud of him and Jenson has had a very successful season.”
Sayell paid tribute to his team and sponsors, including JLK Vehicle Solutions, Ark East Anglia Ltd, Sun Lounge Tanning Studio, Hall Clean, Chris Phillips – Superstox 99, Vrooam, InfinityX Motorsport and Greyhound Racing Seats UK.
The young racer will next compete at Kimbolton before finalising his plans for the 2026 season.
