As the summer racing season winds down, West Norfolk Athletic Club (WNAC) members have begun shifting focus towards winter training and the eagerly awaited Round Norfolk Relay.

But before the transition, several members rounded off August with notable performances on the road and trail.

Sammy Stringer travelled north to Scotland to take on the Paisley 10k, where she produced an excellent run despite warm late-summer conditions.

Stringer crossed the line in 49 minutes 27 seconds, securing a place inside the top 100 in the women’s field from more than 1,200 competitors.

Closer to home, a group of WNAC athletes tested themselves in the gruelling Sandringham 24 endurance event.

Competing as a men’s small team under the banner West Norfolk Dinosaurs, Martin Koenigsberger, Ricky Bailey, Gavin Lane, Tim Coates and Jason Moore combined to cover 30 laps of the demanding five-mile course within the 24-hour limit.

Their efforts were rewarded with a superb second-place finish in their category.

The club’s efforts now turn to the prestigious Round Norfolk Relay.
