There were mixed fortunes for West Norfolk sides in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division this afternoon.
Fakenham Town were in cruise control at home to Cornard United when the game was abandoned after 58 minutes due to an injury to the visiting goalkeeper.
The injury left a depleted Cornard outfit with only seven players on the pitch.
The Ards arrived at the Daly Group Stadium with a squad of eight and proceeded to play the game until injury struck in the second half.
By the time Cornard’s goalkeeper was forced to leave the field with a thigh injury, the Ghosts raced to a 7-0 lead.
Jake Watts (2), Louis Henman-Mason (2), Ethan Flack, Joe Keeley and an own goal were all on target when the game was brought to a halt.
Fakenham will have to await further advice from Thurlow Nunn League officials to see if they are awarded the three points or if the game will have to be restaged.
There were also goals galore at Station Road, where Heacham suffered a 6-2 defeat at home to Thetford Town.
Jake Poore was among the scorers for the Magpies, while George Diggens (3), Antwan Ebanks-Blake (2) and Joshua Wells on target for the visitors.
Next up for Heacham is a trip to Cornard United next Saturday, while Fakenham Town take their unbeaten start to Soham Town Rangers.
