King’s Lynn race their final away match of the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership season when they visit Oxford tomorrow night (7.30pm).
The PSH Environmental Stars are targeting a clean sweep of results against the Spires this season, as their current record reads five wins out of five in league and KO Cup.
They were victorious at BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium 53-37 back in late March, and they then raced to an excellent 52-38 win in the league in mid-June.
A win in any of their last three matches will see the Stars exceed last season’s points total of 22, scant consolation for being unable to reach the play-offs but also some indication of improvement in 2025.
One thing which should already be in the bag is the aggregate point following Lynn’s emphatic 63-27 win at home to the Spires last week with the visitors looking a dispirited unit in that meeting.
On Thursday night, Lynn suffered a 51-39 at the Ipswich Witches.
Lynn battled hard at Foxhall but ultimately a lack of race winners proved to be their undoing.
Middle order pairing Richard Lawson and Chris Harris were the only two Lynn riders to take the chequered flag as the Witches heat-leaders reeled off a series of wins, but Lawson still managed to total an excellent 13 points from six rides.
Manager Rob Lyon said: “I think heat winners told the story, we had four to their eleven, and obviously four race winners is not necessarily going to win you a meeting.
“We did well in the Cup with not too many race winners because we filled the seconds and thirds, but I think the difference for them tonight was Tom Brennan, he came to the party for them.
“So fair play to Ipswich, they always had enough in the tank, and we tried to make it as respectable as possible.
“There was nothing wrong with the track, it was a bit slicker than last time we came here, but whilst we got beaten by the better side we certainly didn’t disgrace ourselves with 39 points.”
