Jenson Sayell endured his worst weekend of the year in the final round of the CKC Championship but still did enough to finish third in the 2025 competition.

Sayell, from Marshland St James, was just ten points behind the leader when he headed to Whilton Mill in Northamptonshire and was optimistic after showing great pace in testing.

He qualified third on Saturday, 0.17sec behind pole.

In heat one, Sayell had dropped to seventh by mid-distance but made up two places on the final lap to finish fifth.

Heat two showed up handling issues as the race progressed with Sayell losing places each lap, almost half a second slower than those ahead, and finishing a disappointing ninth.

The heat results saw him qualify seventh on the grid for Sunday’s super heats.

Super heat one saw a good start with Sayell up three places on the first lap.

However, it was soon clear there was a problem and Sayell had to retire the kart in a cloud of smoke when a hub failed, rubbing the tyre on the chassis. He was classified 23rd.

Sayell made up two places on lap one of super heat two but was then impeded on lap three by a kart rejoining from the infield directly in his path, losing six places.

As the race progressed, Sayell struggled with the same handling issues and finished well down in 11th.

The team made some quite radical changes to the kart for the final. However, the super heat results saw him 11th on the grid for the big points final with his two championship rivals in fourth and sixth respectively.

The kart proved marginally better but while matching the pace of those around him, Sayell struggled to overtake and ultimately finished seventh.

Sayell finished third in the CKC Championship standings which had seen a total of 48 competitors over the six rounds, achieving three podium finishes. He was just 16 points behind the winner.

Sayell thanked his team TWR Pantano, I-Remote Coaching and Force Motorsport for their support over the weekend and local sponsors JLK Vehicle Solutions, Ark East Anglia Ltd, Sun Lounge Tanning Studio and Hall Clean. Sayell moves on to Shenington in Oxfordshire at the end of the month for the final two rounds of the Super One Championship.
