
There were double winners in the men’s and ladies’ categories at Middleton Hall’s Club Championship.
Tom Lovett secured both gross and net titles in the 36-hole men’s event contested by 47 golfers, in a repeat of last year’s results.
Debbie Hemeter did likewise in the ladies’ section in a field of 11 competitors over 36 holes.
Scratch golfer Lovett grossed 143 in total and on day two broke the course record with a gross 67, including 14 pars and four birdies.
Runner-up Steve Ormiston, playing off six, lost the net competition on countback. Mike Lewarne finished third.
Results: 1st Tom Lovett 76/76, 67/67, total 143/143; 2nd Steve Ormiston 76/70, 79/73, total 155/143; 3rd Mike Lewarne 82/75, 77/70, total 159/145.
Hemeter closed the opening day with a one-shot lead over Lorraine Gore, increasing her advantage by a further five shots on the final day.
Gore eventually finished third, behind runner-up Paul Stevens-Smith.

Colin Brown won the Division 1 Seniors’ Monthly Medal with a net 68, finishing one shot clear of Stephen Jeffries and two ahead of third-placed Stephen Webber.
Chris Stanbrook took Division 2 with a net 70, from Robert Croxford (net 71) and Deric Prior (net 72).
