Students from the Mark Farnham Schools of Tae Kwon-Do returned from the 2025 TI World Championships in Glasgow with an impressive haul of 19 awards, including three World Champions among them.
The prestigious event, held at the Braehead Arena over the weekend of July 19-20, welcomed over 1,700 competitors, 400 officials, and more than 2,000 spectators.
With 18 fighting areas in action, the atmosphere was electric as athletes from around the globe competed across disciplines, including patterns, sparring, destruction, and team events.
Representing the club, 22 students took part after months of intense training and preparation.
Lynn’s Carl Grimes claimed gold in Executive Men’s Black Belt Sparring, earning the coveted title of World Champion.
Teammates Jack Benefer (second, Men’s Black Belt Sparring), Kasey Grimes and Emma Mattocks (second, Cadet Girls Black Belt Team Patterns), and Harley Calton (third, Boys Black Belt Team Sparring) also brought home medals.
In Swaffham, there was historic success as Charlie Palmer became the school’s first-ever World Champion in 30 years .
Palmer won the Cadet Boys Blue Belt Patterns and later added a bronze in Team Sparring.
Lynn and Swaffham students were also among almost 100 from the Mark Farnham Schools of Tae Kwon-Do to successfully earn their next coloured belts at a major grading event.
The grading was held at The Discovery Centre in Lynn.
The event, part of the school’s regular grading calendar, saw students from across the 14 affiliated schools put through their paces under the watchful eye of 9th Dan Grandmaster David Oliver.
Founded in 1987, the organisation has guided more than 16,300 students through colour belt gradings over the past 38 years.
