Middleton Hall Golf Club played host to a memorable and meaningful men’s captain’s day.
Club members raised an impressive four-figure sum in support of the Cancer Care and Treatment Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).
A total of nearly £3,000 was collected through a combination of green fees, generous donations, a raffle, and an auction that drew enthusiastic support from across the golfing community.
Auction prizes included rounds of golf at several prestigious courses, with heartfelt thanks extended to Hunstanton, Royal West Norfolk, Bawburgh, Heacham Manor, and Circle Waste, who donated a round at the renowned Belfry PGA course.
This year’s event, held under the stewardship of men’s captain Patrick Hilliard, saw 18 teams compete in a tightly contested Waltz Stableford format.
Just one point separated the top two teams, with the winners finishing on a superb net 89, followed closely by the runners-up on net 88.
Three more teams tied for third place with scores of net 80.
The victorious team consisted of Derek Wood, Colin Burton, Captain Patrick Hilliard, Chris Hornigold, and Barry Davidson.
Close behind them in second place were Neil Frary, Richard Farrow, Richard Eke, and Dan Barton.
Attendees were treated to a warm welcome, complete with complimentary bacon rolls and coffee provided by club owner Dave Freeman, as well as an evening barbecue accompanied by live music.
Special thanks were extended to the entire Middleton Hall staff – from the greens crew to the bar team – for their tireless work in making the day such a success.
The funds raised will go a long way in supporting vital cancer services at QEH, and captain Hilliard expressed deep gratitude to all who participated, donated, and helped bring the event to life.
