A grassroots football team from West Lynn has pulled off a fairytale triumph after being crowned national champions at the prestigious ESF Grand Finale.
The event was held at none other than St George’s Park – the home of England’s national football teams.
West Lynn under-11s, coached by a dedicated parent and supported by their local community, stunned the competition over the weekend, beating teams from across the country to lift the title.
The boys earned their place at the tournament after winning their regional ESF competition held at Butlins earlier in May.
To play against academy-level squads from much larger cities was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the youngsters.
West Lynn’s determination, teamwork, and grit proved unbeatable.
Their journey to the title included a commanding 4-1 win over Ilkeston Town Milan, a hard-fought 0-0 draw against the highly-rated Most Wanted Elite, a tight 1-0 victory over The Academy Player, and a dominant 3-0 win against Stoke Gabriel Torbay.
“This is such a massive achievement for a little grassroots team from King’s Lynn,” said a club spokesman.
“These boys have trained hard, believed in themselves, and played with heart. To win at St George’s Park is something they’ll never forget.”
