Cohen's Creatures

A new temporary exhibition at the Alfred Cohen Museum of the artist’s powerful images of animals throughout his career. Includes oils, watercolours, drawings, collages, prints and sculpture.

As a young man, Alfred Cohen went to Pamplona to see the bulls run. He met Ernest Hemingway there. This lively exhibition at the new Alfred Cohen Museum starts with the magnificent lithograph of a dying bull from the 1950s. It follows his extraordinary images of animals through his art over five decades, and brings out their importance to his vibrant, joyful work.

Alfred painted in Norfolk for the last two decades of his life, devoted to art. The museum incorporates his studios as he left them. Over 70 works are on permanent display from a career covering five decades.

Cohen’s work is also in the Arts Council Collection, the Sainsbury Centre, and over 50 museums and public collections.
