West Norfolk AC enjoyed another successful week in endurance running.
Starting on Wednesday evening in Eye, the Peterborough 5k series kicked off for another year. It’s a series of races which attracts a host of good running talent locally and further afield.
WNAC had three athletes taking on the series’ first race, a technical out and back course situated in Eye just outside of Peterborough.
Callum Stanforth enjoyed an exciting race to place third overall, finishing just nine seconds off first place in 16min10sec.
Ryan Oakes enjoyed another sub 17-minute effort, finishing with a time of 16.51 for ninth and a solid run by Darren Easter saw him finish in 19.43.
West Norfolk AC’s resident ultra marathoner, Martin Koenigsberger took part in the Norfolk festival of running hosted by Zig Zag events on Saturday.
Taking on the ultra-distance that consisted of ten 5.3k laps of Bawsey Park, Koenigsberger finished the 53k challenge in blistering heat in an impressive 5hr 55min 11sec.
On Sunday, West Norfolk members were out in force for the Run Sandringham 5k and 10k event, both races include a mixture of road, trail and hills.
Local crowds gathered to create a great atmosphere for all the runners on the day.
Starting with the 5k, Ryan Oakes was first across the line for the club, placing third overall with a time of 17.19. Karl Brown was fourth in 18.44. Henry Gosnell wasn’t far behind as he finished as first junior and sixth with a personal best time of 18.54.
Father and son duo Matt and Ben Eldridge ran together in a time of 23.14.
Olivia Ord was fourth female overall, crossing the line in 23.39. Kelly Watts was first female 45-49 category, with a time of 26.43.
Clubmates Wilf Gosnell and Aidan Howard ran together superbly to finish with a time of 28.06. Both crossed the line together, with Gosnell claiming a new best.
In the 10k, WNAC enjoyed more success as Mitchell Bunn claimed victory and made it a hat-trick of three wins on the spin at Sandringham, breaking the tape at the finish with a time of 34.02.
Adam Howard ran well to finish under the 40-minute mark, coming home with a time of 39.48. Cassie Moden was next over the line for the club, finishing in 42.36.
Lee Richardson wasn’t far behind as he crossed the line in a time of 43.16 while Dan North ran a solid 45.57.
Carl Pickett cruised under the 50-minute mark with a time of 47.46 and Rob Gosnell rounded off a great week for the club as he finished the challenging course in 50.24.
